Backpacking Akureyri and Akureyri Backpackers

At this point in my life, I seem to doing lots of reflection. This of course can be positive, but I believe it has to do with the over-abundance of mirrors set up at my current lodging.

Seriously, I really don’t remember my hair being this grey.

With reflection, I decided to reflect upon my time in Iceland to see how it’s reflected what I am now reflecting. Okay……these mirrors have got to go.

Iceland: inhabited by amazing people and phenomenal natural beauty. I will never forget my 3 months spent experiencing the land and culture.

The warm welcoming was unforgettable…

“Back home” fuzzy feeling

While the landscapes seemed to hypnotize…

And the friends made will forever be in my heart.

Most of my time was was spent at a hub for Akureyri’s social scene: Akureyri Backpackers. The hostel has it all; a restaurant, bar, a friendly and helpful staff, and comfy rooms. I will never forget my time spent there and could not be happier to have found such a memorable place.

Akureyri will always be dear to me. The friends I made are missed as well as the good times, but I am sure they miss me just as much. 🙂

  1. Andy, I’ve heard so many wonderful things about Iceland and the Icelandic people. Just yesterday, I was talking to a close friend’s daughter who visited there two summers ago. Her experience was precisely like yours. She’s planning to return this summer as well. Where are you now?
