An American Troll in the Land of Ice and Fire

Welcome back to the blog.

Turns out I wasted my money.

I purchased my ticket to Iceland for one reason and one reason only: ELF WATCHING. It has been over 2 weeks and I have yet to see ONE Elf…or even a Troll! I know I’ve said this before, but this time I mean it……this is the last time I plan trips based on Norse religion.

I trudge on, volunteering and traveling the Elf-less landscapes of Iceland. Despite the lack of mythological beings, there have been many great people and sights. I will now shut up and let the photos speak. Enjoy!

Blue Wind

As my gaze meets the parting of land and sea
There is a feeling…felt or even heard

Waves are its individuality, heralding foreign discoveries
Cycles of which come and go
Cycles of which surround me
In just a turn of breath I feel an indivisible whole

It is peculiar, this essence
What is the envelope of life? Of the constituent and the carrier?
Whose travels rise and fall, drift and flow
Meandering through time and perpetuation
Received by me, perceived by oceans and landscapes

It must have secrets, reasons
How I wish to know them
To understand its voyage through nature
As though it too is searching…

Ceaselessly creating, destroying
Moving as though there is a path
Sailing through the sky
To find its way
